GENERAL INFORMATION

The Oceanco M/Y Europi (formerly Alarga B) was built in the Devaal Shipyard in July 1995 to super yacht standards, with its interior designed by the ‘A’ Group of Monaco. In July 2003 the Europi underwent an extensive refit.

The Europi took 18 months to build, construction aluminum and is classified by Lloyds + 100AI pleasure craft LMC, one of Lloyds highest yacht classifications. To date the Europi is regurarly monitored by Surveys of Lloyds (Lloyd’s Register/LR.No.1004637).

The Europi is capable of a continuous 17 knots, with a maximum speed of 19 knots. With a speed of 15 knots, an amount of only 350litres/hr of fuel is required.

The fuel system is also versatile by design, the four tanks are plumbed in such a way that they can serve either engine, or can be individually treated by an Alpha Laval Separator.
The pair of Muir anchor electro-hydraulic windlasses fitted on the fore deck are oversized (5000W each), to handle potential complications
The Europi is powered with a pair of Caterpillar 3412 engines. Although the 3412 is proven engine for the long haul, Europi’s owner specified that they be detuned from their rated 1250 hp to 1000 hp each, with the intention of adding to the longevity of the equipment by reducing stress.
On board, backwater is treated by an Orca II sewage biological system and bilge water is purged of contaminant with a Nelson separator.
Line handling and deck access are enchanted by a full walk-around main deck.
A knuckle in the forward section gives the topsides a powerful, attractive shape and helps to keep the spray under control.

The Europi’s isolation remarkable. The entire hull is lined with four inches of materials, an aluminum rubber sandwich, 85mm of sound-absorbent Rockwell and a rubber-type compound and a rubber-type compound called Vibradamp – virtually eliminating sea sounds outside, even in the bow while running. In the engine room overhead, these materials are combined with alternating layers of Rockwell, plywood and rubber mat and rubberized paste to form layers nearly 10 inches thick. Finally, every room floats on rubberized mounts within its aluminium frame. For Oceanco this sort of detail is standard.
